Bio
Adrienne Green has been a hospitalist on the medical service at UC San Francisco since completing her Internal Medicine residency and chief residency at Stanford University Medical Center in 1998. She is a Professor of Clinical Medicine and is the Associate Chief Medical Officer for UCSF Medical Center.
Adrienne attends on both the inpatient teaching and non-teaching medical services. Her clinical excellence has been recognized both internally with UCSF Medical Center’s Exceptional Physician award in 2005 and externally with the Society of Hospital Medicine’s Award for Clinical Excellence in 2007. In teaching clinical medicine to her students and housestaff, Adrienne tries to bridge her clinical and administrative worlds by emphasizing topics such as inter-disciplinary collaboration, infection control practices, medication safety and care transitions.
Highlights of recent initiatives that Adrienne has led include: 1) improving the root cause analysis process for evaluation of adverse events and improving the dissemination and sustainability of key improvements across the institution, 2) improving “door to floor time” for admitted patients, and 3) disseminating best practices to reduce preventable readmissions. In 2009, Adrienne helped facilitate the UC system-wide initiative to decrease central line bloodstream infections across the five UC medical centers.
